CLIMATE CAMP IRELAND Film Screening

4 – 7pm

Free Entry

A screening of a short documentary about Climate Camp Ireland 2009 and a collection of other shorts from previous Climate Camps in other countries accompanied by a brief talk about what the camp is and where it will be this year. There will also be a chance to ask questions of some of the people involved. The main film is 20 minutes long.

Climate Camp came together with the aim of building a climate change movement focused on social justice. We believe that climate change is a symptom of a destructive and undemocratic economic system. The 2009 camp in Shannonbridge provided a space for free education and workshops on sustainability, Climate Change and lots more, taking direct action against social injustice in the tradition of the civil rights movements. A year and a half on and we achieved and will continue to achieve all of our aims!

This year’s camp is in Victoria Bridge, Co. Tyrone, where there is a project to build a motorway to replace the existing A5 road. This will cost the taxpayers of both NI and the Republic €500 million each, and will create substantial further emissions. We were invited by the Alternative A5 Alliance, a local campaign, to camp there this summer. It takes place from 12th to 16th August. Come along to screening to find out more or visit:
